MCCA COMMENDS EMERGENCY PERSONNEL FOR CHOGM PREPAREDNESS
The Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA) commends the emergency personnel and partner agencies who participated in a mass casualty exercise at the Methodist Conference Centre on Scotts Hill, Antigua and Barbuda, as part of preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled for 1–4 November 2026.
Hosted at the Methodist Conference Centre, the exercise simulated a vehicle crash involving multiple casualties and tested the coordination and response mechanisms of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, the Fire and Rescue Service, health clinics, and the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).
As Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome leaders and delegates from across the Commonwealth, such exercises play a vital role in strengthening emergency response capabilities, safeguarding lives, and ensuring the nation is equipped to respond effectively to unforeseen incidents.
The MCCA recognises and appreciates the dedication, professionalism, and collaboration of all emergency responders and supporting agencies working behind the scenes to help ensure a safe and successful CHOGM.
Preparedness saves lives. Collaboration builds resilience. Together, we help protect our communities and everyone who calls Antigua and Barbuda home.
